The PS3 "Savior "Need to sell like hell.

The playstation 3 since his launch till now, is living on red signal alert in the game market.

"As of October, only 2 million PS3s had been sold in the United States, compared to 5.2 million Wii consoles from rival Nintendo and 7.2 million Xbox 360s from Microsoft, according to market research firm NPD."¹

Sony bet that Metal Gear 4 will increase their selling. Metal Gear 4 is the last game of the exclusive generation. The game is developed by Konami and it will be launched in 2008, and Sony are counting the days. But do you believe this will really save playstation 3?

For Sony the "third party" deal is great!
"We're telling our fans that if you want to play 'Metal Gear Solid 4', you have to buy a PS3," said Ryan Payton, the assistant producer of the game.¹
But for Konami this deal is probably a great headache.

"Payton said the new "Metal Gear Solid" needs to sell over a million copies on the first day it goes on sale due to its costly production, but that may be a tough mark to hit given sluggish PS3 sales. (...) A year after its release, only two PS3 games have sold more than 1 million copies, a benchmark of financial success for a big-budget game."¹

"That's why most publishers are reluctant to give a high-profile game exclusively to one platform, unless the platform holder provides the publisher with incentives (read: bags of money and lots of marketing support). Nevertheless, Konami doesn't feel like it's being limited by releasing MGS4 exclusively on PS3.
(...)
"The PlayStation brand has always been good to us, and we're pretty bullish on the PS3."said Payton"²

So maybe the Metal Gear 4 really save Playstation 3, but if dont... who will save Metal Gear 4?
