I was talking with my friend about Apple and how they are completely ahead up their concurrency. Their ideas, their visions... everything. Talking about visions, this is what differs the people in the market.
Do simple things. Do not make people think "what they are doing". They make people just do it. Just touch, and it's done. You are attached to their technology in a simple and beauty way. Check it out the features of iOS.
Now, while Google is trying hard to compete with Facebook with their Frankstein circles Google+, at F8 conference Zuckberg presents the "new facebook" shit and stuff. And he is ways ahead of it. It is not just features and interactions: it is a business model.
While Google is looking back at yesterday Facebook, Zuckeberg is looking forward recreating his busisness model with all the information he got. You said you like pizza? Zuck's gonna builds a delivery in front of your house tomorrow.
Every single detail of people activity in life, their "will to share", what they like to see about friends and not friends, what services and apps they use... it was all well studied and crafted not to improve the social media, but to serve as live biography to the user.
It makes everyone important for themselves. Zuckberg increase the power of the "Inverted Mirror" side effect, now everyone can looks like Abraham Lincoln but with a great music taste and awesome cooking skills. All this can be reached with an organized user life timeline and a real time live update about what the heck are they doing right now - welcome to Timeline and Ticker (Both powered by Open Graph: " a protocol that allows Facebook developers to integrate their apps into the social map which powers the sites sprawling connections" -Edge)
Timeline
Ticker
It is kind of annoying and somehow a crazy feeling. If you think about basic life, all this stuff is something almost stupid. Some "stalker pass time fun" that I might not share - but - thinking as business model, this is a fastest way to spread a product in a fashion way. As a game designer I must say it is quite impressive tool.
No more annoying invites for games or stuff... just microblogging skills to share activity.
Facebook and Apple are at the top of "easily-attaching-to-people-life-stuff". But what we people can do with it, what we as human beings could contribute using this tools?
Are you gonna live our life our seeing the outside life as a online reality show? Dang! Pretty annoying. Need some time at some mountain... (without foursquaring or sharing twitpics about it)
